Showmanship and halter are similarly set up, but the judge is looking at different things. In showmanship, the judge is looking to see who can show off their animal the best. In halter, the judge is solely judging the llama and how it looks. Animals should be well groomed before entering the ring for both of these classes. Handlers should dress nicely for showmanship in halter- typically this means a nice shirt and dress pants.

Showmanship tips:
1.) Walk shoulder to shoulder with your animal.
2.) Keep a "llama's length" distance between you and the person in front of you.
3.) Make eye contact and smile at the judge!
4.) When the judge is on the front side of your llama, you stand on the opposite side as the judge.
5.) When the judge is on the back side of your llama, you stand on the same side as the judge.
6.) Always pet down the wool after the judge pets your animal.
7.) Answer the judge's question with confidence!
