Performance classes consist of 8-10 obstacles that allow exhibitors to demonstrate their llama's training. These courses are altered to better suit each age division (beginner/junior, intermediate, senior, and master). Each obstacle is worth 10 points. Points are taken off for major and minor errors. Each handler usually has 2 attempts at each obstacle, but the second attempt will begin with only 5 points.
Obstacle
The pack class is when the animal wears a pack while going through the course. The obstacles in this class will be similar to what you may see on a trail- weaving through branches, checking ears/feet, etc. You will never have to jump in a pack class, only step over. When in pack, the handler should go over every obstacle with their animal.

Performance tips
1.) Do your best to have a loose lead, but never let the lead rope drag below your knees (safety hazard!)
2.) Try to walk shoulder to shoulder with your animal and keep a good pace.
3.) NEVER walk backwards in the ring, this is a major safety hazard.
4.) Communicate with your animal by talking to them throughout the course.
