Some shows offer a poster class, where youth can demonstrate their knowledge and research skills on a camelid topic of their choice. Posters are typically displayed for the viewing of all guests and showmen.
Helpful poster tips:
- Choose a topic that interests you and that will be interesting to viewers
- If possible, always type and print any wording, avoid handwriting
- Use high-quality photos and provide captions
- Be creative with layout, colors, titles, etc. (Have fun!)
- Make sure your title is large, easy to read, and eye-catching
- When choosing your layout, make sure the content "flows" and is easy to follow
- Adding a border to photos, captions, etc. makes your poster look more put together
- Do your best to make sure your poster is "readable" (avoid crazy patterns/colors)
- Poster topic idea: anatomy, what llamas/alpacas are used for, how to dye wool, training, FAMACHA scoring, herd health, parasites, llamas/alpacas as service animals, llamas vs. alpacas, etc.
